Hole on My Dog's Back

by Anonymous

my pekennesse maltese had a bump on her back and white stuff came out of it and now their is a hole on her back and losing hair around it.

Any suggestions?

Editor Suggestion: Abscess on Back

Based on your dog's symptoms, it sounds like your Pekinese Maltese might have a skin abscess, cyst, or a skin infection which has ruptured. The hole is likely where the abscess or cyst ruptured and the hair loss could be due to the inflammation.

It's important to keep the area clean to prevent infection. You can use a mild antiseptic solution, but avoid anything too strong as it could further irritate the skin.

However, this situation absolutely warrants a visit to your local vet. They may need to provide further cleaning of the wound, possibly sutures, and may prescribe antibiotics if there is an infection. Please ensure you get your pet to the vet as soon as possible, as untreated skin conditions can lead to more severe complications.
