Vet Suggestion

Hi Dr. Panda,

The answer to your question depends on the cause of your dog’s dandruff. If it is as simple as dry skin caused by excessive bathing or extremely low humidity levels, an oral omega-3 fatty acid supplement and/or a topical product like Dermoscent or Duoxo Seborrhea Spot-On could help.

If these over the counter remedies don’t work or if your dog’s condition worsens or is associated with excessive itching, make an appointment with your veterinarian.

Skin infections, parasites, immune disorders, genetic diseases and many other conditions can all cause a dog to develop dandruff.

Best of luck,

Jennifer Coates, DVM
