Dog Tapeworm Home Treatment

After reading information on this site I am convinced my dog has tapeworm. Can I buy something at the Pet Supply place to get rid of these?

Veterinarian Suggestion for Treating Dog Tapeworm at Home

Hello,

Several different types of deworming medications that will get rid of your dog’s tapeworms are available over-the-counter. Look for a product that contains one of the following active ingredients – praziquantel, epsiprantel, fenbendazole.(e.g; Tapeworm Tabs - editor suggestion) Follow the instructions for getting rid of tapeworms that are printed on the label. Most dogs get tapeworms because they have fleas (they eat the fleas that carry the tapeworms when grooming themselves). Effective flea control is an important part of preventing your dog from getting tapeworms again in the future.

Talk to your veterinarian if your dog’s symptoms do not improve after treatment.

Regards,
Jennifer Coates, DVM
