Dog Urine Color Yellow

by Hayley
(Moorabbin )

I have a Cavalier king charles spaniel. He is 2 yrs old. I have been worried that he is not drinking enough, but I am not to sure. Just now I have noticed his pee is bright yellow and I don't know if thats normal. I don't know what to do.

Please help.

Thank you

Editor Suggestion, Dog Urine Color

Dear Hayley,

Bright yellow dog urine color fits with your dog not drinking a lot of water. Just like us, the more dogs drink, the more dilute the urine is and the less color it has to it.

As long as your dog seems to feel fine and he always has access to clean water, you probably don’t have anything to worry about. If you are still concerned, you could always try feeding him canned rather than dry food. Canned food has a lot more water in it than dry, and it is a good way to fool him into “drinking” more.

Blood in dog urine looks red as long as there is enough to be seen with the naked eye. It does not sound like this is a problem for your dog.
